Sailors from Russia and China learned to act cohesively in the most difficult and dangerous situations. The military leadership of the two countries will carry out further detailed analysis of the results of joint exercises. But it is already clear that Russia and China can successfully carry out complex military operations.
A fighter flies over a squadron of ship and drops bombs. The destroyers fire a return volley of artillery from the air defense system. At this point an enemy submarine approaches the squadron from the right flank. But it is quickly destroyed by the frigates’ deep torpedoes.
The naval exercises enacting the theater of war were carried out in the Peter the Great Bay in Vladivostok. The participants of the Russian-Chinese exercises jointly simulated repulsion of the enemy air attack which was simulated by the Su-24 air force fighters and air defense of the Eastern Military District. Then they went into battle and successfully repelled the attack of small "pirate" ships - missile boats and submarines.
The special operation aimed at the release of a vessel captured by "pirates" was quite tough. The operation to free the vessel involved seven ships, helicopters of carrier-based aviation, which conducted the reconnaissance of the situation on the captured ship, and Marines on high-speed boats, which carried out the seizure and swept clean the interior by neutralizing the pirates.
Four destroyers, two frigates and one supply ship comprised the squadron of Chinese ships that came to Vladivostok. On the Russian side, the exercise involved more than 8 ships, including the flagship of the Pacific Fleet, the missile cruiser "Varyag". Such large-scale exercises are being conducted by Russia and China for the second time. Military experts agree that training of seamen of the two countries goes beyond the fight against terrorism. The media are rife with speculations that Russia and China are forming a military coalition. Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Navy, Vice Admiral Leonid Sukhanov denies these rumors. The military "training" exercises involving Russia and China are not directed against any country, said the vice-admiral:
“We are ready to work to protect the interests of our countries from any emerging threats. Of course, our exercises are attracting considerable attention in the world. For some countries it is a matter of satisfaction and hope for stability. In some countries it causes dissatisfaction, as it does not coincide with their interests. But they are forced to reconcile with it, as Russia and China are the largest force in the region.
The participants in the exercises themselves claim that the Russian-Chinese military cooperation is aimed at ensuring stability in the Asia-Pacific region. According to most analysts, perhaps Russia and China are unlikely to conduct any joint military action in the near future. The fact is that the question still remains open of the ability of Russian and Chinese leaders to take a quick political decision to intervene militarily if the situation calls for it. Russia and China could not, for example, play any significant role in resolving the situation in the southern Kyrgyz city of Osh, where bloody ethnic clashes erupted in 2010.
Therefore speculation by some media about the establishment of a Russia-China military block can be compared with news about UFOs. By the way, the media could not do without the latter during the current exercise also. Japanese media reported that a flying saucer was seen on the west coast of Japan. As a result, the press service of the Russian Pacific Fleet had to fend numerous calls from Japanese journalists, who asked if the appearance of UFOs was related to the naval exercises.
